What does Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg do?
We operate 12 community-based Clubs and numerous youth development programs to our members, offering a safe alternative to the streets during the evening and after-school hours. Our agency focuses on the well-being of children and youth by teaching them the importance of healthy living, personal growth and social development.
The essence of our work is through a preventative and developmental approach to tackling a broad range of critical issues facing young people today. This is accomplished through five core program areas promoting healthy development:
With positive role models and mentors at the forefront of our Clubs and programs, children and youth have the opportunity to achieve their full potential in a safe and facilitated environment.
How can I get my child to become a member?
Signing up your child to become a member is easy. All we need is a parent or guardian to sign a membership form! Visit the Club you'd like your child to attend and any one of our staff would be happy to help. You can also call our head office at (204) 982-4940 to ask any questions about your child becoming a member.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost to become a member or to take part in any of the programs and services we offer.
What types of activities take place at the Clubs?
Each of our 12 Clubs offer activities that are tailored to the interest of its members. To get an idea of the activities we offer, click on any one of our Clubs and download their monthly calendar. We also provide a healthy meal/snack to kids right after school to ensure they receive the fuel they need to take on the activities our Clubs plan for them.
What time does programming start/end?
Programming starts right after the school bell rings (3:30) and goes until 5:00 or 5:15. For our larger Clubs, we have the younger kids come for first group, and the older kids start anywhere between 6:00 and 6:30 until 8:00 or 8:30.
What age groups do you work with?
We work with children and youth ages 6-18.
I love working with kids. How can I get involved with the organization?

What if there are no Clubs in my neighbourhood?
Our Clubs do not have boundaries so you don't have to live in the neighbourhood or community to attend. Your child is free to attend any one of our Clubs! Please note that we do not provide transportation to and from our drop-in programming. If you would like to request information on how to start one in your neighbourhood, please contact us at (204) 982-4940.
