The Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg will commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on Friday, March 18, 2016 by putting on its 20th Annual Multicultural Festival, celebrating diversity and promoting cultural understanding.
Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg has 11 community-based Clubs located across Winnipeg, and are open to all regardless of race, religion, social or economic status.
“Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg works with children and youth from all economic, cultural and social backgrounds,” said Ron Brown, President and CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg. “Through the Multicultural Festival we hope to encourage respect of the many different cultures that exist in our neighbourhoods and promote the cultural diversity of our Clubs.”
The Festival will be hosted by the Victor Mager Club, a culturally diverse Club with many of its members being recent immigrants and refugees to Canada. The free event is open to children and youth from all 11 Clubs in Winnipeg, along with their families.
Approximately 150 festival attendees will be treated to world-class cultural entertainment from Folklorama performers and tastes from a variety of delicious ethnic dishes from around the world.
