After 15 years of dedicated leadership, Ron Brown, President and CEO of BGC Winnipeg, has announced his retirement effective June 2026.

Under Ron’s leadership since 2010, BGC Winnipeg has continued to grow as a vital part of the city’s social fabric – creating safe, inclusive spaces for thousands of children and youth. His vision and steady guidance have strengthened the organization’s impact, built new partnerships, and championed opportunities for young people across our city.

Beyond BGC Winnipeg, Ron has been a tireless community advocate, serving on many Boards and Committees, such as the Winnipeg Poverty Reduction Council, Aboriginal Council of Winnipeg, Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technologies Board, and Winnipeg Indigenous Executive Circle. A proud member of the Annapolis Valley Mi’kmaq First Nation in Cambridge, Nova Scotia, Ron’s leadership has always reflected his deep commitment to community, inclusion, and empowerment.

Before his time at BGC Winnipeg, Ron’s influence extended nationally through his celebrated racquetball career. His contributions as a national team coach earned him induction into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame, the Manitoba Indigenous Sports Hall of Fame, and the North American Indigenous Sports Hall of Fame.

Ron’s dedication to young people – whether on the court or in the community – has left a legacy that will continue to shape the city for years to come. As we look ahead, the entire BGC Winnipeg team extends our deepest gratitude.
