As we approach the end of the year, I want to take a moment to thank you for believing in Winnipeg’s kids — and to share how much your support truly means.

Every day at BGC Winnipeg, hundreds of children and youth walk through our doors. They come for homework help, hot meals, a game of basketball, or simply a place to belong. They leave with confidence, new friendships, and hope for the future.

This season, you can make an even greater difference by helping us Fund a Need at BGC Winnipeg. Your gift will directly support programs that help kids learn, play, and grow in safe, welcoming spaces across our city.

Here’s how your donation can make an impact:

$5,000 – Did you know that BGC Winnipeg operates 11 Clubs across our city, and programs out of over 25 service locations? A gift of $5,000 would allow us to bring a 2 day a week Club back up to 4 days a week, offering children and youth a safe place to belong after school. This includes food, transportation, art supplies, technology, and the incredible staff who make a difference every day.

$2,500 – Physical activity is one of the key pillars of programming for BGC Winnipeg. Organized sports build teamwork, confidence, and healthy lifestyles. A gift of $2,500 covers all the costs for one of our basketball teams, including equipment, registration, uniforms, and transportation to games.

$1,000 – BGC Winnipeg operates a fleet of 6 vans and a small bus, making it possible for kids to see and experience their city beyond their own neighbourhoods. From field trips to tournaments to cultural events, transportation makes these opportunities possible. A gift of $1,000 helps cover vehicle maintenance and insurance so that kids can keep exploring.

$500 – For many families, providing nutritious food every day is a struggle. At BGC Winnipeg, every child who walks through our doors receives a healthy snack or meal. A gift of $500 ensures that one Club is stocked with fresh, healthy food for a week, fueling kids’ bodies and minds.

$250 – Creativity opens doors for learning and self-expression. Art, music, and cultural programs help kids discover new passions and build confidence. A gift of $250 provides supplies for one Club’s creative programming for a month, giving children and youth the tools to express themselves.

$100 – Connection matters. At BGC Winnipeg, kids build relationships with mentors, get help with homework, and, for many, access the internet in a safe and supervised space. A gift of $100 covers the internet bill for one Club for a month, keeping kids connected to learning and opportunity.

Every gift — no matter the size — helps ensure that every young person in Winnipeg has a place to belong, grow, and thrive.
