BGC Winnipeg proudly hosted a special evening reception on Tuesday, January 27 at the Freight House Club to celebrate the achievements of its 2025 Bursary recipients — inspiring young people who are pursuing post-secondary education with the support of their community.

The annual Bursary Celebration brought together recipients, their families and guests, generous funders, and BGC Winnipeg staff for an evening of recognition and connection. The event highlighted both the dedication of Club members working toward their educational goals and the vital role that community supporters play in making these opportunities possible.

BGC Winnipeg’s youth development professionals work closely with teen members throughout the post-secondary journey, offering guidance with applications, goal setting, and identifying financial supports such as bursaries and scholarships. For many youth facing financial barriers, these bursaries are a crucial factor in making college or university a reality.

“Helping young people access post-secondary education is one of the most impactful ways BGC Winnipeg supports youth in realizing their full potential,” said Ron Brown, President and CEO of BGC Winnipeg. “These bursaries not only ease financial stress but also send a powerful message to youth that their community believes in them.”

Throughout the evening, guests heard directly from bursary recipients about the difference this support has made in their lives.

“I am extremely grateful for your generous nature,” shared Amina B. “Your support has enabled me to concentrate on my studies, participate in valuable extra-curricular activities, develop as a person, and has been a constant reminder for me to continue working towards being the best in all that I undertake.”

Lola O. echoed this sentiment, saying, “This scholarship has helped me and my family so much. We had a huge financial relief and I got to experience an amazing semester. I am incredibly grateful for your generosity and appreciate being able to further my education without additional financial stress.”

The celebration served as a reminder that when a community invests in its young people, the impact extends far beyond the classroom — building confidence, opening doors, and helping youth envision bright futures.

BGC Winnipeg extends heartfelt thanks to the corporate and private donors whose generosity makes these bursaries possible and to the families and staff who continue to support youth every step of the way.
