BGC Winnipeg is proud to announce that our very own Randy Wagner has been awarded the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal. This incredible honour recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities, embodying values of service, sustainability, and diversity. Randy’s unwavering dedication to BGC Winnipeg has transformed countless lives, making him a deserving recipient of this distinction.
The King Charles III Coronation Medal was established to celebrate those who have had a meaningful impact on their country, province, or community. In May 2023, the Prime Minister announced that 30,000 Coronation Medals would be awarded to Canadians whose service and achievements bring honour to our nation.
When BGC Canda invited all 80 Clubs across Canada to nominate one person from their organization to receive one of the 36 medals to be awarded, the selection process was highly competitive, but for us the decision was clear – Randy Wagner was the perfect choice.
Randy began his journey with BGC Winnipeg on September 9, 1996, and now holds the distinction of being our longest-serving staff member. Throughout nearly three decades, his impact on young lives has been immeasurable. He has been instrumental in the success of programs such as the Youth Recreation Activity Worker Program, which has graduated over 250 youth since 2002, providing them with valuable skills and opportunities. Additionally, he has played a key role in the Clean Machine Program, which has given many youth their first job, paving the way for meaningful careers in various sectors.
Beyond his leadership, Randy’s calm and reassuring presence has provided stability and mentorship to generations of young people. Never one to seek the spotlight, he remains a steadfast advocate for youth, ensuring they have the support, guidance, and opportunities they need to thrive. His ability to inspire and uplift those around him has left a lasting legacy at BGC Winnipeg.
Many individuals who have participated in BGC Winnipeg programs under Randy’s guidance recall his influence as a defining factor in their success. His dedication and commitment have made a profound impact on our community, and we are thrilled to see him receive the recognition he so rightly deserves.
Congratulations, Randy, on this outstanding achievement! Your contributions to BGC Winnipeg and the lives of young people will be celebrated for years to come.
